PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication unit among image communication units where image information is transmitted in a ring shape that supports color reception and recording, receives color reception information in its memory, converts the information as required, and can transmit the color image information to a succeeding destination in the ring type reception when color communication is designated even when the transmission processing to a succeeding destination cannot be executed. SOLUTION: A received telephone number, a sub address signal and a succeeding destination are registered corresponding to a ring type communication number, an initial identification signal not supporting a specific communication mode such as color facsimile communication is transmitted, a caller telephone number is detected, and at the arrival of an incoming call, when the telephone number registered and received corresponding to the ring type communication number is detected, the initial identification signal not supporting the specific communication mode is transmitted.
