In the present invention, there is disclosed a mineral wool capable of dissolving in physiological medium and containing the following components: 35 to 60 percent by weight of SiOi2, preferably 40 to 55 percent by weight, 5 to 18 percent by weight of Ali2Oi3, preferably 6 to 16 percent by weight, 50 to 75 percent by weight of SiOi2 + Ali2Oi3 + Pi2Oi5, preferably 55 to 65 percent by weight, 20 to 40 percent by weight of RO (CaO + MgO), preferably 22 to 35 percent by weight, 2.8 to 10 percent by weight of Ri2O (Nai2O + Ki2O), preferably 3.5 to 8 percent by weight, 2.6 to 8 percent by weight of Pi2Oi5, preferably 3 to 6 percent by weight, 1 to 15 percent by weight of Fei2Oi3, preferably 3 to 10 percent by weight, 0 to 3 percent by weight of Bi2Oi3, 0 to 3 percent by weight of Ti{OMICRON}i2, preferably 0.05 to 3 percent by weight whereby the wool meets a criterion based on the ratio of R1 such that R1 = (SiOi2 + Ali2Oi3)/Pi2Oi5, wherein R1 is in the range of from 12 to 20. |
