PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal that can execute succeeding processing even when no data are written in a modem. SOLUTION: When data received by a facsimile modem 10 fully occupies a modem buffer memory 10a in the facsimile modem 10, a CPU 1 uses a DMAC 20 to apply DMA transfer of the stored data to an SRAM 9 that is a decoding memory for image data, and when the received data are not written in the modem buffer memory 10a for a prescribed period denoted by a timer value table 7a, the CPU 1 controls dummy data to forcibly fully occupies the modem buffer memory 10a. The time value in the timer value table 7a is decided in advance on the basis of a communication rate of the facsimile modem 20 and the storage capacity of the modem buffer memory 10a.
