PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent element which is superior in luminous efficiency and has light emission with high luminance. SOLUTION: This hydrocarbon compound is expressed by general formula 1-A, which the electroluminescent element uses. In the formula, X1-X22 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a straight-chain, branch or cyclic alkyl group, a straight-chain, branch or cyclic alkoxy group or a substituted or an unsubstituted aryl group.
