MAGNETOSTRICTIVE STRESS DETECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetostrictive stress detector capable of simultaneously detecting the stresses of a plurality of components such as torque, bending force, tensile and compression force and the like by use of one set of sensors. SOLUTION: This magnetostrictive stress detector comprises a magnetostrictive layer 201 formed on a shaft 101, with variable magnetic permeability according to stress; a plurality of directive detection sensors 301-304 provided in opposition to the magnetostrictive layer 201 so that their directivities have a prescribed 45 deg. to the axial direction of the shaft 101; amplifiers 401-404 for amplifying the output of the detection sensors; and a signal processing unit 510 for simultaneously determining a plurality of stress components including a vertical stress component generated in the shaft 101 from the output of each amplifier.
