PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve device and single lever type combination faucet in which no water leakage occurs even if a variation is generated in the water pressure nor drop of the handle lever operating easiness occurs while the specified gap is secured. SOLUTION: The valve device includes a stationary valve element fixed through a packing to a packing guide installed at the bottom of a housing and equipped with a valve hole leading to a flow passage provided in the packing guide and a movable valve element overlapped on the stationary valve element slidably and equipped with a communication chamber leading to the valve hole and performs water stop or regulation of the rate of flow by means of mutual displacement of the stationary and movable valve elements, wherein a packing groove to store packing is formed in either of the packing guide and stationary valve element, while the other is furnished with a plate-form projection making elastic deformation in pursuit after deformation of the packing stored in the packing groove and capable of being inserted between the inner wall surface of the packing groove and the packing.
