PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting body in which honeycomb pits are formed over the whole face and relatively low in glossiness without depending on the kinds of aluminum to be used. SOLUTION: In this aluminum supporting body for a planographic printing plate, the ratio of the number of pits with a diameter of 0.5 to <1.5μm to be occupied to the total number of pits with a diameter of 0.1 to 10μm formed on the surface of an aluminum plate subjected to roughening is 90 to 100%, the ratio of the number of pits with a diameter of 0.5 to <1.0μm to be occupied is 50 to 80%, also, 85 degree glosiness is 10 to 35, and the average surface roughness is 0.2 to 0.5μm.
