PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp socket and an luminaire, having conductive members for holding a lamp in by inserting for stabilizing the contact of the lamp pin and capable of miniaturization. SOLUTION: This lamp socket conducts lamp mounting by inserting the lamp pin 2 projecting from a lamp base 3, rotating on a lamp axis T for bringing the lamp pin 2 into contact with conductive members 1a-1d, and the conductive members 1a-1d are formed into an almost U shape, holding the lamp pin 2 by inserting it, and the U-shaped directions of the conductive members 1a-1d exist in two kinds in the rotational direction of the lamp pin 2.
