PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared ray communication unit that can attain infrared ray communication through the layout of devices at a positioned relation easily operated by an operator without the need for adoption of a layout of the devices such as transmission/reception sections placed opposite to each other. SOLUTION: The infrared ray communication unit 10 consists of a public phone 12 provided with a n infrared ray transmission/reception section and of a mobile small-sized personal computer 14 provided with an infrared ray transmission/reception section. The public phone has two fixed type infrared ray transmission/reception faces 16A, 16B on a front side. The personal computer is provided with an infrared ray transmission/reception section 20 whose optical path is variable at a side wall face 18 of its enclosure. The infrared ray transmission/reception section consists of a transmission/reception optical face 22 provided to a lateral side wall of the enclosure and a movable and freely turnable reflection mirror body 24. The reflection mirror body 24 is provided to a support via a ball joint 26 and consists of a reflection mirror surface 28 freely turned over 360 degrees and of a mobile groove 30 that moves the support at least along one side of the infrared ray transmission/reception face 22. An infrared ray path can freely be set by directing the reflection mirror surface in a desired direction. |
