ALARM TRANSFER SYSTEM IN ATM NETWORK AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alarm transfer system in an ATM network that can improve cell transmission efficiency of a transmission channel. SOLUTION: Each of ATM units 1-4 is provided with a function of periodically calculating a transmission interval of an AIS(Alarm Indication Signal) cell and a reception monitor time depending on the state of a transmission channel and the state of the devices sets the calculation time to the AIS cell and informs the other ATM devices about the calculation time. Then each ATM device receiving the AIS cell uses a time comparison decision section to compare the calculation time set to the AIS cell with the calculation time in its own device and rewrites and updates the time set in the AIS cell when the calculation time of its own device is greater. Then the time set to the AIS cell becomes the maximum time among the ATM devices and the AIS cell is transmitted and monitored for the reception according to the maximum time. The transmission of the AIS cells for alarm transfer is minimized as required and the reception monitor time of the cell is maximized as required so as to enhance the cell transmission efficiency of the transmission channel.
