PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modular jack having little crosstalks between pairs. SOLUTION: A plug inserting opening 21 to insert a modular plug is opened in a connection pedestal 20, and a terminal pedestal 10 protrudes from the rear surface of the connection pedestal 20. The connection pedestal 20 and the terminal pedestal 10 compose a housing. A contact 12a, serving as a first contact implanted in the lower surface of the connection base 13, is bent toward the front side of the connection pedestal 20, and after detouring around the connection base 13, it is tilted on the upper surface side of the connection base 13, so as to make the distance from the upper surface of the connection base 13 bigger going toward the rear end part. A contact 12b serving as a second contact is implanted in the upper surface of the connection base 13 in the vicinity of the rear end of the contact 12a, it is formed bent frontward and toward the plug inserting opening 21 side in its upper part, and is tilted so as to make the distance from the connection base 13 small.
