PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orthogonal frequency division multiplex signal generator that is compatible with a plurality of coding and modulation systems and reduces the scale of a signal processing circuit. SOLUTION: A trellis coded signal is subjected to puncture coding to obtain a puncture coded signal. As coding rates for the trellis coding, k-kinds of rates are used. Let a common multiple of the numerator of the rate be (n) and a common multiple of the denominator be (m), then the puncture coded signal is generated as a frame arrangement signal where a data frame length is (n×bk/ ak) bytes and the number of frames is (m×ak/bk). Multi-value modulation is applied to the signal by using a modulated mapping signal, a frame synthesis signal to transmit the modulated mapping signal and the coding rates for the trellis coding as a frequency division multiplex signal is generated and an orthogonal frequency division multiplex signal is generated on the basis of the frame synthesis signal.
