PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify operation for winding a cord and housing of a temperature measuring probe. SOLUTION: A portable measuring instrument includes a temperature measuring probe 3, a compact case 2 for housing a clinical thermometer body, a cord 4 for connecting the temperature measuring probe 3 and the clinical thermometer body, and further includes a first recessed part 7 for housing the temperature measuring probe 3 in an end part of a flat part on an upper surface of the case 2, and a second recessed part 8 connected with both ends of the first recessed part 7 and provided around an outer circumference of the case 2 for winding and housing the cord. A probe stand 9 having a cord guiding groove 9c formed of two upright walls 9a, 9b parallel each other, and a pair of elastic engaging pieces 10 having engaging claws 10a, 10b formed on a tip and facing along the probe stand 9 in a predetermined position are arranged on the first recessed part 7. When a cover 5 is closed after the cord 4 and the temperature measuring probe 3 are housed, the cover 5 covers the first recessed part 7 and grooves 8a, 8b of the second recessed part 8 together. Thereby, winding of the cord and housing operation of the temperature measuring probe are simplified.
