PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diffraction optical device in which the wavelength dependence characteristics of the diffraction efficiency are decreased, color irregularity or production of flares due to light in unnecessary orders is effectively prevented, and different optical materials are firmly laminated. SOLUTION: In the diffraction optical device having a relief pattern 3 on the interface of two optical members 1, 2 consisting of different kinds of optical materials, a thin film layer 4 consisting of at least one kind of silicon dioxide, zinc sulfide and aluminum oxide is formed on the interface.
