PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large-sized rock bed testing apparatus small-sized as compared with the size of a test object but constituted so as to be capable of holding a loading axis accurately. SOLUTION: The large-sized rock bed testing apparatus is equipped with four columns 1 vertically provided on a floor, a lower vertical frame 2 as the counterforce receiving stand arranged on the lower part within the columns 1, the upper vertical frame 3 fixed and arranged on the upper part within the columns 1, a vertical actuator 7 for grasping and pressing the test object S along with the lower vertical frame 2, a square annular horizontal frame 6 surrounding the columns 1 from the outside to be suspended through a plurality of suspending actuators 10 so as to be movable in horizontal and vertical directions, a pair of the horizontal actuator and a spacer 9 respectively provided on two opposed sides of the horozontal frame 6 in a protruded state to grasp and press both side surfaces of the test object S and the slide bearing 16 interposed between the horizontal actuator 8/spacer 9 and the horizontal frame 6 to make both of them movable relatively.
