PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent abrasion or occurrence of seizure by lubricating efficiently the sliding part of a seal device while performing sealing the clearance between a rotor side face and a casing inner face of a vane type rotary fluid machine by a seal device. SOLUTION: Ring seals 134, 135 are made to fit into annular grooves 131, 132 engraved on the inner face of a rotor chamber 14, while applying the pressure of a pressurization liquid phase fluid to the pressure chamber 136 to energize towards the both end faces 35 of a rotor 31 by making a high pressure pressurized liquid phase fluid blow out from a side plate 40, which guides a vane 42, to the ring seals 134, 135, a liquid film of the pressurized liquid phase fluid is formed between the rotor 31 and the ring seals 134, 135. The both end faces 35 of the rotor 31 are sealed by the same pressurizing liquid phase fluid as steam which is an operation medium driving the rotor 31 through the vane 42, therefore a bad influence caused by mixing of a lubricating oil with an operation medium can be avoided.
