PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection apparatus for accurately and steadily controlling fuel injection in accordance with running conditions of an engine. SOLUTION: At a first lift stage of a nozzle needle life from 0 to h1, a lift of a nozzle valve member 20 is controlled based on the relationship between a force applying in the nozzle hole opening direction by fuel pressure in a main well 34 and a force applying in the nozzle hole closing direction by pressure in a first pressure chamber 14. At a second lift stage of a nozzle needle lift larger than h1, the lift of the nozzle valve member 20 is controlled based on the relationship between a force applying in the nozzle hole opening direction by fuel pressure in the main well 34 and a force applying in the nozzle hole closing direction by pressure in the first pressure chamber 14 and the second pressure chamber 40. The fuel pressure in the first pressure chamber 14 and the second pressure chamber 40 is controlled by a voltage applied to a piezoelectric actuator 50.
