PURPOSE: To read a pixel signal at high-speed with respect to a solid-state image pickup device employing a MOS type image pickup element. CONSTITUTION: A read bus consists of, e.g. 4 division buses 23a-23d, and one integrated bus 23e that is connected to the 4 division buses 23a-23d, and the electric connection between the integrated bus 23e and the division buses 23a-23d is switched by switching elements 26a-26d. Then number of switching elements Mc0-Mcn connected to the division buses 23a-23d per one line is reduced, the capacity of the division buses 23a-23d is reduced to read a pixel signal at high- speed.
