PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the uniformity of color on the right and left sides of a projected video without lowering the color purity of single color nor losing brightness, and to make a projection type video display device compact and inexpensive by reducing the number of parts. SOLUTION: This display device is equipped with a 1st lens array 6 for forming plural secondary light source images, a 2nd lens array 7 constituted of plural condensing lenses 9, arranged near a position where the plural secondary light source images are formed and forming the image by superimposing the individual lens images of the 1st lens array being the secondary light source images on the vicinity of video display elements 2R, 2G and 2B, and the condensing lens, and the principal point of the condensing lens is arranged at the middle point of an optical distance from the 2nd lens array to the video display element. When plural condensing lenses are prepared, the principal point of the entire condensing lens is arranged at the middle point of the optical distance from the 2nd lens array to the video display element.
