PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multibeam system optical scanner which holds plural drive assemblies for independently driving plural optical elements constituting a first imagery system with good accuracy, improves vibration resistance from outside and is free of the deterioration in optical characteristics and an image forming device using the same. SOLUTION: This optical scanner has a light source unit which is formed of a light source 1a having plural light emitting points and the optical elements 1c, the first imagery system which introduces the light beams from the light source unit through the optical elements to a deflector 4 and the second imagery systems 5 and 6 which condense the deflected light beams as a light spot to a surface to be scanned to scan the surface at a uniform speed. The scanner has holding members 1h, 2h and 3h which discretely hold the respective optical elements constituting the first imagery system, supporting guide members 11 and 12 which support the respective holding members movably in an optical axis direction, drive means 1i, 2i and 3i which discretely drive the respective holding members in the optical axis direction, and plural prepressure member 1t, 2t and 3t which press the holding members respectively independently. The first imagery system including these members are modularized.
