PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save wasteful reading and to prevent troubles, such as read/write errors caused by dirt on a memory card by enabling read/write, while identifying memory cards having different memory configurations of information. SOLUTION: The card reader holds a program 23 for card read/write control, capable of reading/writing an individual storage part corresponding to the identification information of a memory card 1, composed of an identification information storage part 11 storing the identification information concerning a card issuing source which is commonly readable for each of cards and individual information storage parts 12 and 13 storing peculiar information, which is edited for each card issuing source, concerning an individual and history information concerning entering/leaving, reads the identification information of the memory card and decides whether the individual information storage parts are readable/ writable by the held program for card read/write control. When the held program is not a read/write enable program for card read/write control, the transfer of a read/write enable program for card read/write control is requested to a host computer 3 and is acquired, so that the read/write of the individual information storage part in the memory card 1 is performed. |
