PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display in which the brightness and the efficiency of light emission are improved by increasing light energy of vacuum ultraviolet rays to excite a phosphor due to utilization of infrared with high emission intensity, and additionally has not defects such as haze on a screen image, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The plasma display according to his invention comprises a pair of glass substrates 1 and 2 arranged in an opposed position, plural barrier ribs 8, and discharge cells 9, formed between the glass plates 1 and 2. On the inner face of each of the discharge cells 9, phosphor 11 containing frequency multiplying material is formed.
