1-(Sulfonylamino-phenoxy)-3-(carboxymethoxy-tetralinyl-amino)-2-propanol derivatives (I) are new. Propanolamino-tetralins of formula (I) and their salts or solvates are new. R1, R2 = H, benzoyl, COT, CH2OMe, COOT or benzyloxycarbonyl; or R1 + R2 = CO, CH2 or C(T)2 (completing a heterocycle); R3 = H or T; R4 = OT or NR5R6; R5, R6 = H or T; or aryl, heteroaryl, aralkyl or heteroaralkyl (all optionally substituted by R7); or NR5R6 = 5-7 membered optionally unsaturated ring; R7 = H, halo, OH, T, OT, COOH, CN, NHT or N(T)2; X = O or CH2; and T = 1-4C alkyl. Independent claims are included for: (i) the preparation of (I); and (ii) aminotetralin derivatives of formula (III) and their salts or solvates as new compounds, provided that R4 = NR5R6.
