The V-belt consists of an endless load carrier(10a) and a number of transverse pulley blocks, with the load carrier fitted in slots. The load carrier and/or the slots of the transverse pulley blocks have a conically tapering cross section, whereby the opening width of the slots is larger than the respective base width. The load carrier accommodated by the slots can protrude over the openings of the slots. The load carrier in the belt width direction has a greater rigidity than in the longitudinal direction.
