<p>A method of detecting an air leak related to nasal or facial ventilatory support comprises monitoring the humidity level of exhaled air inside of a nasal or facial mask to establish a sealed state humidity level; storing data related to the sealed state humidity level; recording the humidity level over a period of ventilatory support to obtain corresponding data; comparing the recorded humidity level data with the sealed state humidity data; detecting a leak by observing a deviation from said recorded humidity level data from the sealed state level data.
