In flat strip material, for making sheets for registering information, which has a coating containing fine cavities on at least one side, particles (I) that can be activated electrically and/or magnetically are embedded in the coating. Independent claims are also included for (a) equipment for writing on this material, which has a magnetographic writing head for dot-accurate magnetic activation of the magnetizable particles; (b) equipment for writing on this material, which is in the form of a hand-held stylus with a magnetic tip.
