The invention concerns a device for measuring out a liquid reagent in a liquid contained in a container (10) comprising a reagent reservoir (12) provided in its lower part with a chamber (24) emerging into the container (10) and communicating with the reservoir (12) via a passage (26), a floater (28) mobile in the chamber (24) depending on the liquid level and a valve (32) controlled by the floater to open or close the passage (26) so that when the container (26) is filled with the liquid to be treated, the floater (28) rises, the passage (26) opens, a volume of air passes inside the reservoir (12) and a corresponding volume of reagent is delivered into the container (10). The invention is applicable to drinking water treatment in rural areas or in developing countries.
