Exhaust end tube for motor vehicles consists of outer and inner tubes, with weld point connections to fracture during collision

The exhaust end tube (1) has an intake for exhaust gas from a silencer, and a gas outlet. The outlet (4) is moveable out of its normal position relative to the intake (3) by e.g. a collision force, and the intake is not subjected to any loads during this process. The end tube is telescopic, and there is a rated braking point between intake and outlet. The end tube consists of an inner tube (5), and a two-part outer tube (6) around the inner one, with a projecting end, which forms the outlet. The two parts (6a,b) are connected via weld points (8), which fracture during a collision.
