Manufacture of spun fleece comprises: (i) melts of incompatible polymers are mixed and extruded through nozzles to form filaments with a weight of /- 1 dtex; (ii) filaments are then cooled, stretched and laid down in loops to form a fleece; and (iii) the fleece is needled, water jetted or subjected to high energy gas jets to simultaneously cool and split the filaments into finer components weighing <= 1 dtex.
