The invention relates to a fuel cell installation with a catalytic reformer (10) for converting a fuel, which is provided for operating the fuel cell, whereby heating fuel is provided for heating the reformer (10). In comparison to conventional installations, no pollutants are emitted by the inventive installation especially even during the start-up phase and, at the same time, the waiting time is distinctly reduced when starting the vehicle. To this end, a catalytic converter is provided for catalytically converting the heating fuel that serves to heat a catalytic reactor unit (3, 10, 12, 13).
