The structural component (1) has a fibre reinforcement (2) within a first plane, terminating at a second fibre reinforcement (3,4) lying within a perpendicular plane, both fibre reinforcements joined together via at least one sewing thread (12) and embedded in a matrix (5). The first fibre reinforcement is provided in part by the sewing thread, e.g. the sewing thread forms a center layer of the first reinforcement positioned between opposing cover layers.
