The invention relates to a stackable transport container, embodied in such a way that said container may be stacked one on top of the other with other transport containers when in the filled state and which may be placed one inside the other in the empty state. The transport container comprises a base (2), a front wall (3) a back wall (4) a left side wall (5) and a right side wall (6) in order to form a receptacle which is open on the top side. Grooves (7, 8) are arranged in each of the left side wall (5) and the right side wall (6), each with an upper opening (21, 22) and a lower groove stop (10, 11). On each of the external side of the left side wall (5) and the external surface of the right side wall (6) several sliding lugs (13) are arranged. The horizontal separations between the sliding lugs (13) are different from the separations of the upper openings (21, 22) of the grooves, whereby an inadvertent engagement of an upper transport container in a lower transport container is prevented.
