The invention relates to a system and to an electronic device for identifying neonates. The system is designed to manage information on neonates and identifying them with the purpose of reliably and irrefutably establishing a biunivocal relationship between each mother and her neonate(s) by including the fingerprints of the mother and the fingerprints of the newborn child in one same register and by identifying them by means of a code represented in the form of code bars on the codifiers placed on the bracelets worn by the mother and the neonate. By reading said code, access to an already existing register is made possible. If a register does not exist, it can be set up at that very moment by means of a corresponding electronic device.
