An extension kit for extending the use of standard calipers to a wide variety of measuring applications not otherwise possible or convenient for such calipers. The calipers include a jaw (3a) slideable along a scaled beam (5) with respect to a fixed jaw (4a). The extension kit included: a first housing (10) attachable to the fixed jaw, a second housing (20) attachable to the slideable jaw, and a plurality of accessories including contact point rods (30) selectively attachable to the first and second housings.
