<p>An electric double layer capacitor which, although recognized to be far superior in power density and cycle characteristic to secondary batteries, still requires a higher energy density when applied to power sources of hybrid cars and electric cars. A carbon material containing copper or copper compound delivers excellent characteristics as a capacitor electrode material and can realize a capacitor having a large electric capacitance. The electrode material and capacitor preferably contain 0.8 to 30 pts.wt. of copper or copper compound in terms of metal per 100 pts.wt. of carbon material.</p> |
