A system resource includes a sub-system, and a control processing system in which each leaf element processor (14A,B) has port (34P) for the client-server network. A network mechanism supports the communication processes between the leaf element processor (14A,B) and the clients (34C). A communication monitoring mechanism with network error detector exchanges DF(direction) transmissions with another leaf-element processor via the network path. An answer generator reacts to the network error detector in the absence of reception of a DF(direction)-message from a failed port (34P) of another leaf-element processor (14A,B) so as to transmit a bypass-message to the client (34C).
