The lifting device has at least one locking unit between a support frame and lifting frame and which consists of a rotatably mounted pawl(4) and a toothed rack(10) rotating with the lifting frame. The locking unit is mechanically released by an operating element on the drive. The drive is of the hydraulic type and the aforesaid operating element is constructed as a unit to open the pressure chamber of the hydraulic drive and connected to the pawl via a connecting arm(8).
