864,847. Extruding coated building elements. S.A.S. LAVORAZIONE MATERIE PLASTICHE (L.M.P.) DI M. I. COLOMBO & C. Oct. 20, 1959 [Oct. 20, 1958], No. 35487/59. Class 87(2). A process of coating with thermoplastic material a member 22 having at least one concave angle comprises advancing the member 22 through an extrusion head 20, whilst applying vacuum to the inlet for the member in the head 20, and tightly clamping the layer 24 against the member 20 on its emergence from the head 20. The clamping means may be a rubber block 27 forced against the coating by a rubber band 28. In addition to the vacuum applied at the inlet of the machine a hollow needle 30 may be inserted in the emerging end of the coated member and vacuum applied from both ends. The member may be cooled by water sprays and advancement of the member and extrusion stopped before the whole of the member enters the head to ensure adherance of the coating, the uncoated portion being subsequently trimmed.
