<p>A composting device comprises a container (8) for accommodating compost matter, the container having an infeed opening and a closable discharge opening. The interior of the container (8) is divisible into at least a first and a second section by means of at least one partition (19). Locking means (20) are disposed at the discharge opening for retaining the partition (19) when the discharge opening is open. The partition (19) is movable from the region of the infeed opening to the region of the discharge opening. The locking means (20) are openable so as to permit removal of the partition when the discharge opening of the container is open. A method of composting is disclosed in that the composting takes place batchwise in one and the same container. The matter (9) which is to be composted or the matter which is undergoing composting and after-composting is moved or permitted to be displaced from an infeed opening to the container to a discharge opening from the container. The different batches of compost matter (9) in the container are kept discrete from one another by means of movable partitions (19). <IMAGE></p> |
