PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize vacuum force, to use a part in common, and to easily assemble a paper guide mechanism part of a printer by constituting a platen downstream side paper guide mechanism of unitized plural paper vacuum carrying mechanisms. SOLUTION: A recording medium is sandwiched and carried by a paper carrying roller 50 and a pressurizing roller 54 connected to a driving device, a recording head 48 is reciprocated in the right-angled direction to the medium carrying direction on a platen 28, and an image is formed by printing. Paper vacuum carrying units 24 are composed of a sucking roller holder 10, a suction device and sucking rollers 16, and are parallelly arranged in a plurality on the downstream side of the platen. The respective sucking rollers of the carrying units are joined by a shaft coupling, and one end is connected to the driving device. The recording medium is carried in the downstream direction while being sucked to the sucking rollers. A suction hole 34 is arranged in a paper support surface of the platen, the suction hole is communicated with the inside of the sucking roller holder, and the recording medium is sucked.
