PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a pallet for carrying a drum wound around with an optical fiber cable lightweight and durable, and to reduce the cost of the pallet and airfreight for transporting the pallet. SOLUTION: A frame 2 of the pallet 1 is made up by fixing light alloy square pipes together, a pair of flange support beams 8 and 9 are provided, with a space being left in between them, at the middle of an outer frame 4, and stoppers 3 are arranged so as to be moved up and down, providing stopper beams 10 at both sides of the flange support beams. As the drum D is mounted with its flanges F placed on the paired flange support beams 8 and 9, parts close to the lower end of the flanges F come to a level below the support surfaces of the flange support beams, and faces on both sides of the drum are placed within the outer frame 4, and thereby the drum D is fixed firm with lacing belts L and prevented from rolling or lateral shift. Since the pallet 1 is lightweight, airfreights required for transporting the drum and returning the pallet become inexpensive, and because of its durability, the pallet can be used repetitiously, reducing its cost.
