PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical decanter type centrifugal separator capable of preventing a cleaned cake from spouting outside the decanter type centrifugal separator from a boundary part between a main rotor and a non-rotating part in the vicinity of solid matter discharge port or the cleaned cake from sticking on the boundary part. SOLUTION: In the decanter type centrifugal separator 1 for separating original liquid slurry supplied from an original liquid slurry supply pipe 2 into a separated liquid and solid matter by a rotating part 3 including a high speed rotating rotary bowl 13 and a screw conveyer 20 arranged inside the main rotor 10 and differentially rotatable to the rotary bowl 13, spiral grooves 18a and 18b formed to be in a direction opposed to the rotating direction of the rotating part 3 toward the solid matter discharge port 5 are formed at least in one of the non-rotating part 8 formed to cover the rotating part 3 and the rotating part 3.
