PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sintered flux for cladding by submerged arc welding causing no welding defect such as the failure in the shape of weld beads, the failure in the fitness of the edge parts in the weld beads and undercuts and having good operability by being used in combination with a strip electrode. SOLUTION: This flux is produced by blending, by mass, 10 to 60% SiO2-MgO multiple oxide into a blended raw material, and the flux is incorporated with 30 to 60% SiO2, 30 to 50% MgO and 15 to 25% Al2O3 or further with 20 to 35% SiO3, 20 to 30% MgO, 5 to 15% CaF2, <=20% CaO, <=1% TiO2 and <=5% T.Fe.
