PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for the recovery of wood vinegar integrated with a carbonization apparatus, where the wood vinegar has a public-known wide application and whose good quality is related to the removal ratio of wood tar, but provided that, if it is not of a good quality, inversely gives the harmfulness depending on a way to use, while, which has a variety of such applications as a soil improving agent and as an agricultural chemical auxiliary agent that may be a product after the wood tar recovery at an ordinary temperature and, in the case of distilled products, as a medicinal raw material, a food smoking material, a drink raw material, a dyestuff raw material, a deodorant and so on. SOLUTION: The process for the recovery of wood vinegar of good quality with a high efficiency comprises the passing of the wood tar through a layer of wood tar, the process being called a self layer removal one as the recovering means of the wood vinegar suitable for the above applications. A method for removal of the wood tar is provided, in the apparatus for a non-roof carbonization process, provided with a a large diameter Hume concrete pipe in the middle of the carbonization furnace and its chimney.
