PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gel-like hair cosmetic good in slip and compatibility to the hair caused by a proper viscosity, capable of making the settling of the hair good while imparting moist fresh feeling thereto after the use, capable of imparting smoothness and gloss to the hair, and capable of providing light finish without greasy feeling. SOLUTION: This gel-like hair cosmetic is characterized in that the hair cosmetic comprises (A) 1-10 wt.% polyethylene glycol, (B) 0.05-3 wt.% carboxyvinyl polymer and/or an alkyl-modified carboxyvinyl polymer, (C) 0.01-5 wt.% hydroxyethyl cellulose, (D) 0.1-5 wt.% silicone derivative, (E) an alkali agent, and (F) water.
