PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a value for adjusting positional shift of recording in main scanning direction efficiently at the time of printing on a print medium by ejecting ink drops from nozzles and forming dots on the print medium. SOLUTION: At the time of printing on a print medium by forming dots thereon while scanning through the use of a printer comprising a plurality of single color nozzle groups ejecting ink drops of different colors respectively, an adjusting value for reducing positional shift of dot formation is set in the main scanning direction. A first adjusting value is determined out of a plurality of candidates using a first positional shift inspection pattern. A second adjusting value is determined out of a plurality of candidates selected in the vicinity of the first adjusting value using a second positional shift inspection pattern different from the first positional shift inspection pattern.
