PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pyrolysis drum which prevents the leakage of gas from a hollow rotary drum. SOLUTION: Waste is supplied from an inlet on one end side in the axial direction of the horizontal hollow rotary drum 27 and pyrolyzed into a pyrolysis residue and a pyrolysis gas, and the residue and the gas are discharged from an outlet on the other end side of the rotary drum 27. Besides the outlet, a vent hole 120 and an opening/closing mechanism 115 for opening/closing the vent hole 120 are formed in the rotary drum 27, and when the gas pressure of the rotary drum 27 exceeds a set value, the vent hole 120 is opened to discharge the gas in the rotary drum 27 outside the rotor 27.
