PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movable body position detecting system and movable body position detecting method capable of precisely detecting the position of a movable body such as a train or the like. SOLUTION: This system comprises six loop antennas (1) 15-(6) 19 linearly juxtaposed every prescribed section along the moving direction of the train from the ground side. A plurality of signals having different f1-f6 frequencies is regularly transmitted to the loop antenna (1) 15 in a prescribed order, and the signals of f1, f2, f3, f4 and f5 frequencies are cut and transmitted to the adjacent loop antenna in order from the loop antenna receiving the signals through relays 23-27 by bucket relay method. The signal of the loop antenna relayed by each relay is received by the front antenna 12 and rear antenna 13 of the train A, and the train A checks the regularity of the received signal to recognize the present positions of a forward vehicle 2 and a rear vehicle 3.
