PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glossy paper for liquid ink recording and a method of manufacturing the same having a fast rate of absorption and fixation of a liquid ink such as an ink-jet ink and also having a high glossiness. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the glossy paper for liquid ink recording 10 is characterized in that a glossy layer 16 contains an agent to be gelled or a gelling agent, the agent to be gelled being gelled by the gelling agent when the glossy layer 16 is formed, whereby a coating composition 16' for forming the glossy layer 16 is prevented from penetrating into an intermediate layer 14.
