PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent defective printing while eliminating useless consumption of ink by preventing mixing of colors when inks are sucked from the nozzles of individual heads and to realize individual suction through a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: The mechanism for sustaining/recovering print mechanism comprises means (17) for enclosing the nozzle face of an ink jet head (15) entirely, a negative pressure generating means communicating with the enclosing means (17) and bring about a negative pressure state in the enclosing means (17), and means for making a selection whether the negative pressure state brought in the enclosing means (17) by the negative pressure generating means is released or not. |
